WAF JEREMIE

18/ 23

Pigeons fly away while a young man walks by them in the dusty street of Wharf Jeremie. Wharf Jeremie is one of the poorest districts of Port au Prince, a shantytown where about 150.000 people live in miserable conditions and where gangs, drug and arms dealers are free to increase their business. This is one of the areas forbidden by UN because of its dangerousness. Wharf Jeremie is built on a garbage dump among the sea and a little smelly, dark river. This is a high risk area for deseases. After hurricane Tomas great part of it was flooded and Wharf Jeremie is one of the first Port au Prince areas where cholera appeared.
